Tribal and error?

Starting a new project tonight. I'm keeping it a secret till it's finished... so hopefully I actually finish it! I got inspired while making a gift for my sister last week. I'll say it's going to involve some tribal print and LOTS of embroidery!

Mesmerized

Sometimes it takes something really amazing to get some fuel in my artistic fire. These sketches have done this and beyond. Cedric Ravrain has such an amazing ability. If I had an ounce of his artistic talent I wold die happy.

Travels in La-La-Land

The last week and a half I've gone down to LA twice. So, for someone who is pretty much a homebody It's been quite the whirlwind of events. First was an amazingly fun concert with my boyfriend. We went to go see My Morning Jacket, probably my favorite band of all time. Jim James is the only man I would ever leave my bf for! (joke... maybe!) We had a an awesome time walking around Hollywood for a bit before the show as well. After we found a Taco Truck that was amazing.  The next morning we were woken up at 6:30 from the ceiling of our hotel leaking water right onto our bed! So we decided to just hit the road. We made a few stops along the way. Freebirds in Santa Barbara and Pismo and SLO. All in all a great trip. The next weekend we spent Saturday at Disneyland with my bf family. I was a little tired due to getting into Anaheim around 1 am and not being able to sleep past 5:30. Besides that this last week has been awesome. I actually like being a little more adventuress. I always refer to myself as an old lady due to the fact I love just being at home with my Boyfriend 98% of the time.  I leave everyone with an insane amount of pictures documenting my week of travels to the City of Angels!

Crusing around Hollywood before the concert

Taco Truck heaven. We had to go back the next week on our way to Anaheim as well! So bomb!

You might be able to tell I love Mexican food. One of the best Burritos outside of San Diego.

Pismo Beach , Ca

Week 2:

Dinseyland! Obviously the happiest place on earth.

Not so cooperative

always a child at heart!

A few pictures taken while leaving the park.

I've never been to keen on La, but I think I may be changing my mind? Who knows. Anything can happen!

The Velvatine Rabit

Today while at work I got to thinking about all of the different types of fabrics out there and the different emotions they actually envoke. I love working with textiles because great fabrics can make an item that much more alluring. I got to thinking "what fabrics really get me excited? Lace? Eh, It's great. I wear a lot of it. Always a great feminine choice. Cotton? Best basic fabric around. Not, OMG worthy. Silk? AMAZING, but still not what makes me go va-va-voom. Velvet? Oh yeeeeeah.
I would say velvet to me is such a sexy, versatile fabric I don't know why I've never owned for items made of it! Right now one brand that is actually not out of this world when it comes to price range totally doing it for me is, Spanish Moss Vintage. Suzanna the brains behind the operation it not only adorably but actually unique in a world full of desperately unique people. She is every travelers dream. Not only is her shop full of great vintage you would never actually find at home, but her own line called American Gold. This is where my velvet comes into play! Her new line is just FULL of it! I am so happy for them, it seems as if things are really getting big around there. I remember when I was still browsing ebay for there things!

Here are a few of the images from her American Gold collection. From the looks of it a few of my favorite items are already sold out! So you better hurry if YOU want one!

Dum, Dum, Dum-dum ...

Here comes the bride...
I'll refrain from typing the whole song I swear! Recently started the hunt for a dress appropriate for a wedding yet still me. I've been feeling like the best options have been simple tube-top type dresses. I featured one by Quail I saw on sale at UO. I still can't decide if it's too bird-like or not, though. Any thoughts? I went on Bloomingdales website and found two really cute dresses by French Connection. Now the dilemma is, is it wedding appropriate. One thing I'm keeping in mind is nothing too flashy, boring or sexy. Nothing like looking like a fire cracker (total joke) around my boyfriends family!

I would have to say I prefer the first of the two at the moment. Number two may fall into the 'sexy' category I'm trying to avoid. I'm just not one for the totally demure look. I need a BIT of spice in my life. Especially at a party!

Thoughts?
